Opel Antara 2016 is a result of a continued collaborative effort by leading American automobile manufacturing brand – General Motors Corporation with European car brand – Opel. It shares the same development platform as that of Chevrolet Captive that uses the classic “Theta platform”. However, next generation Opel Antara is speculated to bear resemblance to upcoming Buick Envision and will eventually replace the old model in the near future. The compact SUV model has a 5 door configuration with a transverse engine placement. Also, it was first introduced in 2006 and is marketed under various brands including – Daewoo Winstrom MaXX, Saturn Vue, GMC Terrain in South Korea, North Korea & Middle East respectively.
Opel Antara 2016: Redesign Exterior and Interior
Antara 2016 is set to revolutionize SUV design with its characteristic new grille which bears the company’s badge. Also, other additions to the model’s exterior include newly installed tail lights, chrome plated bezels, standard fog lights, etc. along with its redesigned 19 inch alloyed rim wheels. One should also note that the model will feature a redesigned chassis with improved suspension, spring settings & a newly installed damper. Next generation Opel Antara also features a beautifully sculpted exterior with distinctly defined contour lines that have been laid in a new pattern.
Opel Antara 2016 also offers a very luxurious interior cabin that is appropriately equipped with modern day technology. However, the model also incorporates the latest safety & security gear in addition to various drive assist systems. Major interior accessories include premium quality leather upholstery on seats, redesigned dash board or centre console, electronic braking mechanism, gear shift indicators, hill assist mechanism, air bags, belt force limiter & safety belt tension etc. It should be noted that the dash board has been made extensively using carbon fiber while it also features an increased cargo & passenger space for comfortable seating.
Opel Antara 2016: Engine and Specs
Opel Antara 2016 has been provided with two engine options – the primary unit consists of a LTG Ecotec 2.0 liter, turbo charged engine that is capable of producing 256 HP power & 260 lb ft torque while the secondary unit features a 195 HP CDTI Bi 2.0 liter Turbo. It should be noted that both engines will run on diesel and offer much-improved fuel economies & fuel consumption in addition to significantly reduced carbon dioxide emissions compared to its preceding models. Also, one should take note that the secondary power train is being provided as an exclusive on model released in Europe
Opel Antara 2016: Release Date and Price
Antara 2016 offers a newly installed DSS 6 speed power transmission system that relays power generated by the engine to all the wheels. The model, therefore, essentially has a four wheel drive or all wheel drive platform; however, it is not clear that the same transmission will be applied on upcoming Opel Antara 2016 models to be released exclusively in the European model. It should be noted that the model is speculated to be released in the early half of 2015 with the base version estimated to cost around $ 20 000.
