Hyundai Motors has grown into a leading automaker with its continuous advancement on its models for the past ten years. Currently, Hyundai is facing a new challenge of producing the most liked car brand especially in the Chinese market. This automaker is aiming at releasing a new Hyundai ix25 for China, although this model might be offered in other markets such as UK and Europe if it gets a diesel power-train. The iX25 is a mid-size five seat SUV which Hyundai offers to compete in the ring of light weight crossovers. This model’s concept was showcased at the Beijing Motor Show in 2014. In India, The Hyundai ix25 is a highly sought after auto. The automaker is targeting the young market with the new model by including a mix of style and practicality. Hyundai is laying down a range of marketing strategies aimed at encouraging the young generation to flock in the showrooms to get this new model.
Hyundai ix25: Features and Design
This model is based on the same platform with the current Santa Fe. The platform is none other than Hyundai’s renowned Fluidic Sculpture 2.0. The model’s new dimensions will be 4.27 meters in length same as the new Mercedes A-Class, but the new ix25 will be narrower and taller than the Mercedes A-Class. Its width will be 1.78 meters; height will be 1.62 meters and a wheelbase of 2.59 meters. The upcoming Hyundai ix25 will have a ground clearance of 183 mm with its expected front wheel drive system. This model will come with 17 inch alloy wheels. Its styling is rumored to be similar to that of its larger sibling the ix35. New ix25 gets less window line, shapely lights and a unique grille. It also boasts a bold front, a sporty rear and a voluminous side among other innovative details.
Hyundai ix25: Engine Specs
The concept that was showcased during the Beijing Motor Show runs on a 2.0 liter petrol engine. This petrol variant model seems to be specifically made for Chinese market. However, the end product may not come with the 2.0 liter engine but instead; it is likely to come with a 1.4 liter unit generating about 106 hp and 135 Nm of torque, and a 1.6 liter unit generating 118 horses, both petrol variants. Furthermore, the Hyundai ix25 might get the 1.4 liter and the 1.6 liter CRDi unit generating about 126 horses and 135 Nm of torque, both diesel variants. These diesel units are the same ones which run the current Hyundai Verna. As for the fuel tank capacity, it will be 60 liters full tank. When it comes to mileage, the petrol variants are estimated at 17Km/l while the diesel variants are estimated at 22Km/l.
Hyundai ix25: Release Date, Price, Competitors
Its price is rumored to be at par with that of Kia Soul, with its base trim going for about $ 13 000 and the highly equipped trim costing about $ 20 000. As for its launch date, Hyundai ix25 is expected to be not later than the second half of 2015. This compact SUV will take on the likes of Ford EcoSport, Nissan Terrano, Renault Duster, Nissan Juke, Mahindra Scorpio and Vauxhall Mokka among others.
