Ford is currently working on its latest Escape crossover and trying to develop an SUV that is going to feature a major facelift in different aspects. The first images of the all new 2017 Ford Escape were released not too long ago, and although most of what is going to be included in it are still under wraps, it is believed that this new vehicle is going to have the same platform as that of Ford Focus. Here is a brief look at what we might expect with this new SUV from the house of Ford.
2017 Ford Escape: Redesign Exterior and Interior
The recent images suggest that rear and front ends of this vehicle are being restyled and the front end is going to include maximum number of changes. While the current Escape model features a thin upper grille, elliptical headlights as well asthree large lower air intakes, 2017 Ford Escape will have a large grille that has substantially horizontal bars along with thinner headlights. The LED daytime-running lights and HID headlights have also been upgraded for the new vehicle. The lights are notable for their angular, sharp features. The bumper comes with a large center cut-out along with 2 small hollows. The fog lights are located just below the headlights.
These transformations not only make Escape’s outer surface look in line with that of new Ford Explorer and Edge models, but makes it strongly related to 2015 Ford Focus. There are also front parking sensors as well as lowmounted air deflectors for front wheels. At the back, the SUV is fitted with new taillights. There are also dual exhaust tips as well as a 2-inch trailer hitch receiver.
There is still little to no information about what the interiors of 2017 Ford Escape are going to be like, however most rumors suggest that the design elements of the current model are going to be replicated with little changes. It is likely that this new SUV is going to have a new center stack region. The gearshift is going to move down between seats which will in turn allow easier access to the physical controls for HVAC and radio. We might also expect a larger screen along with advanced infotainment features and options.
2017 Ford Escape: Engine Specs
The current Ford Escape models feature quite efficient powertrains, so it is less likely that there will be any changes there. The 2017 Ford Escape will probably feature a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that offers 168 horsepower and mostly comes with a base model. A turbocharged 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine remains optional. The high end models come with 240 horsepowerturbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, with front wheel drive or all wheel drive. All Escape models at present use 6-speed automatic transmission; however, we may also see a 9 or 10 speed transmission that is under development now.
2017 Ford Escape: Release Date, Price, Competitors
The expected release date for 2017 Ford Escape is somewhere around late 2016. Price for the vehicle will be between $ 22 960 and $ 23 855. The 2017 Ford Escape is going to face stiff market competition from various other cars like Chevrolet Equinox, Jeep Cherokee, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5 and Toyota RAV4.
