With Cadillac’s official confirmation about the launch schedule of the new 2017 Cadillac XT5 coming through, all eyes are now eagerly fixed upon the Dubai Motor Show where the vehicle will be revealed. Weeks after the November release in Dubai, the Cadillac XT5 is also scheduled to be showcased for its North American audience at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
There is already enough buzz about the 2017 Cadillac XT5, what with it being touted as the replacement model for the wildly successful Cadillac SRX. According to the statement released by Cadillac: “The new XT5 is set to be a cornerstone for all the future models to be released in the XT range”. It is known that Cadillac’s sales have been not up to the mark in recent years, as a result of which it is planning to revamp its entire range of cars. First the CT6 sedan and now the 2017 Cadillac XT5, Cadillac is all set to venture into its next phase of crossover cars.
2017 Cadillac XT5: Exterior and Interior Design
In contrast to the somewhat bland design of the SRX, the 2017 Cadillac XT5 definitely sports a more luxurious look and glorious designs. It looks completely in sync with Cadillac’s futuristic version of crossover model designs, and features such modern characteristics. The Cadillac XT5 is expected to have a more contemporary design than the SRX and feature revamped exterior designs. Expect thinner and more up-swept headlights, a more upright grille, upgraded rear end tailgate along with Cadillac’s trademark vertical tail-lights. The interior is also going to boast of some vastly improved designs and features, such as a reworked and revised cabin, completely leather seats, high definition display, a premium sound system (Bose in all probability), heated and ventilated front seats, rear seat DVD entertainment systems with dual 8-inch display screens. There will also be all the options available for ensuring maximum connectivity to the internet such as Bluetooth, USB and GPS.
2017 Cadillac XT5: Engine and Fuel Economy
To rival Lexus’s upcoming model, the 2016 Lexus RX, Cadillac XT5 is expected to feature the upgraded version of GM’s 3.6 L V6 engine. The entire set up is supposed to be based on Cadillac’s latest Chi platform, that is future-ready for all the crossovers and even the long-rumored three-row Cadillac crossover model based on the Escalade. The upgraded 3.6-L V6 engine is expected to generate a horsepower of more than 308 HP and 286 lb-ft, which is the current capacity. There are also rumors about a smaller 2.7 L turbocharged V6 engine that might be deployed as an option for the 2017 Cadillac XT5. Both front and all-wheel drive will be offered to customers, and the usual 6-speed automatic transmission gear.
Meanwhile, the fuel economy of the 2017 Cadillac XT5 is not expected to offer much of an improvement over the current SRX that means a 17/24 mpg or 16/23, depending on whether you opt for a front or all-wheel drive.
2017 Cadillac XT5: Release Date and Price
The entry-level models of the 2017 Cadillac XT5 are to cost around the $ 35 000 to $ 38 000 mark. However, the more luxurious models may sport a price tag of somewhere close to $ 50 000. After all, it is a true luxury mid-size crossover comparing against the likes of BMW X3 and Audi Q5!
