Ever since its debut at the 2006 New York Auto Show as RD-X concept, the Acura RDX has been the cynosure of all eyes. Developed as a compact luxury crossover SUV, this baby from Acura, (the luxury car division of Honda), has emerged as a worthy addition to the Acura SUV line. The latest 2017 Acura RDX will be a crossover model with improved characteristics over the 2016 model, which is currently in its second generation. Pundits in the car industry promise the 2017 Acura RDX to feature a very trendy and sporty look, along with a gorgeous bodyline.
2017 Acura RDX: Exterior and Interior Design
Apart from significant visual changes, the new Acura RDX will feature many new additions. The front portion is expected to undergo a complete overhaul over the 2016 model, and feature Honda’s latest Jewel Eye LED head-lights, 3D Grille, freshly designed air intakes and bumper. The backend is supposed to showcase new tail lights, bumper and rear exhausts as well. Two “upgraded” packages are to be included on the inside as well. The “Technology Package” will include HD radio, Blind-spot information and rear + cross traffic alert along with all the other usual features of an Acura model. The other package, called the “Advance Package” will feature rain-sensing wipers, fog lights in the front, bi-directional key-less remote engine ignition, front and rear-parking sensors, completely ventilated front seats, the trademark Acura Watch and GPS with voice recognition. In addition to all these, the 2017 Acura RDX will also have a multi-zone air conditioning, a centrally located console with HD display, a premium quality audio system and all the latest connectivity settings and options.
2017 Acura RDX: Engine Specs
In all probability, the 2017 version of Acura RDX will feature the current 3.5 liter V6 engine, with slightly tuned up horsepower (maybe 279 hp) and 252 lb-ft of torque. The engine is rumored to feature a nine-speed automatic transmission and FWD as standard, while AWD as an optional feature. Although, a new 4-cylinder turbo engine is also slated for a release in the coming few years, and so cannot be ruled out as a complete possibility for the 2017 RDX too. Besides more power, the model is also expected to feature a much more improved fuel economy of 1 mpg.
2017 Acura RDX: Release Date and Price
Nothing concrete has been confirmed by the Acura or Honda officials as such. However, the latest Acura RDX is widely expected to hit the floors sometime late next year. The designate price for the 2017 Acura RDX has also not been announced as yet but should not be much different from the 2016 model. In any case, the price of 2017 Acura RDX is expected to hover somewhere in between $ 35 000 to $ 45 000.
