Volvo is a Swedish Company that deals with luxury vehicles. It was founded in the year 1927 in Gothenburg, Sweden. Formerly, it was owned by Ford Motor Company but it was later sold to Chinese automaker Geely in 2010. Volvo’s automotives made a name for themselves in the US with their trademark boxy designs, bulletproof reliability and superior safety. Volvo is set to release yet another small car that is inspired by modern car designs and sporty equipments, and one that will demonstrate the safety abilities of Volvo’s new small car platform known as Compact Modular Architecture (CMA). This compact crossover,  2016 Volvo XC40 that falls below the XC60 and XC90 is said to be a top priority at Volvo Car Corporation. This model will be named the 2016 Volvo XC40 and it will be the second model to be built on Volvo’s brand new CMA platform. This new platform was unveiled during Paris Motor Show where the Company’s senior Vice President announced that it was being developed in conjunction with Chinese’s Geely.

In terms of its exterior features, this upcoming SUV will resemble its sibling V40, but it shall have a more aggressive stature. It shall get several styling aspects such as roof rails, body moldings and side skirts which shall give it an intimidating look. This upcoming 2016 Volvo XC40 will have a signature radiator grille with chrome surround which shall be engraved with the well-known company’s badge. Around this is a sleek headlight cluster equipped with high intensity bi-xenon lamps. The 2016 Volvo XC40 has a front body colored bumper with a wide air intake section and a pair of fog lamps. This model is again fitted with an aluminum protective cladding while its roof has a glossy black finish added to silver garnished ski-racks which emphasize its SUV appeal. 2016 Volvo XC40 is expected to get a classy set of either 17 or 18 inch alloy wheels that could be covered by terrain capable tubeless radial tyres.

As for its interior features, it is expected to be spacious with an improved seating arrangement. Again, this sports utility vehicle is expected to acquire a digital instrument cluster with active TFT display, parking assist, cruise control system, speed dependent power steering among other features which come as standard in all Volvo models. When it comes to its safety features, this new model is expected to get laser assisted braking system, blind spot information system with cross traffic assist and much more modern protective aspects.

2016 Volvo XC40: Engine Options

There are rumors that 2016 Volvo XC40 shall be launched with both petrol and diesel engine options. Its petrol version might be fitted with a 1.6 liter engine, while the diesel version is expected to get 2.0-litre five cylinder turbocharged engine. This diesel engine is also found under the bonnet of a few other models from Volvo and it comes with four valves and displaces about 1984cc. It has a direct injection fuel technology that enables it to generate a maximum of 147 horses at 3500rmp and a torque of 350 Nm at 1500 to 2700 rmp. This engine is speculated to be mated to a six speed automatic transmission which shall transmit the torque to all four wheels. As for the 1.6 liter four cylinder petrol engine with sixteen valves, it is able to generate a maximum power of 180 horses at 5700rmp and 240 lb-ft of torque at 1600 to 5000 rmp. It is expected to be mated to a five speed manual or the six speed automatic gearbox.

2016 Volvo XC40: Price, Release Date, Competitors

This new 2016 Volvo XC40 is anticipated to be unveiled in the last quarter of 2015. Its price is still unknown. 2016 Volvo XC40 will be made in such a manner that it will be able to compete with the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Range Rover Evoque.
