2016 GMC Terrain redesign, release date

General Motors produced the first GMC Terrain in the year 2009 as a replacement for the Pontiac Terrain. Now, GM is contemplating on releasing a refreshed model of this mid-size sports utility vehicle which will enable this car to withstand competition until its first generation is released sometimes later. Since the time GM made this announcement, this model has become one of the highly anticipated cars among the 2016 year models. This car will be known as the 2016 GMC Terrain. Most of the refreshments will not be visible while its mechanical features will remain as they are in the current model. However, the 2016 GMC Terrain will acquire new exterior color options in addition to some new interior features and equipments. Its manufacturers are doing their best to make this refreshed model more enjoyable and more appealing in order to appeal more potential customers until a brand new GMC Terrain is released. This model will be available in three trims namely SLE, SLT and lastly, Mount Mckinley.

2016 GMC Terrain: Redesign Exterior and Interior

2016 GMC Terrain features a luxuriously designed interior. Its dashboard is tilted a bit and it has great illumination which is essential when one is driving at night. There is a 7 inch colored touch-screen that sits perfectly on its dash. Its rear seats are adjustable to allow the user to create more leg room or even cargo space. Again, this car is equipped with noise reduction features which make its occupants more comfortable. Other interior and exterior features vary depending on the trim level. For instance, the SLE trim offers 17 inches allow wheels, rearview camera, auto-diming mirror, a satellite radio with iPod and USB interface. The SLE trim offers all SLT features in addition to roof rails, eight way electronically adjustable driver seat, automatic climate control and leather upholstery. For Mount McKinley Trim, it offers everything available in the SLE and SLT trims in addition to powered driver and passenger seats, navigation system with Intel link and 18 and 19 inch wheels with a V6 engine. For safety purposes, the manufactures is equipping the 2016 GMC Terrain with a number of airbags, cross traffic features, blind spot monitors and rearview camera.

Outside, the changes are not massive but they are good enough in giving 2016 GMC Terrain a refreshed look. According to dome spy pictures, its exterior shows a refreshed bumper and a newly designed grille in addition to installation of LED headlights. The automaker has also announced about the appearance of brand new exterior color shades such as Sapphire Blue Metallic and Cypress Green Metallic.

2016 GMC Terrain: Engine and Fuel Economy

Just like the outgoing model, the 2016 GMC Terrain will have two engine alternatives. The first engine will be a 2.4 liter 4-cylinder EcoTech generating 182 horsepower and 172 lb feet of torque. The second engine alternative is a V6 3.6 liter High Feature LFX unit with an output of 301 horsepower and 272 lb feet of torque. This new model will utilize the same six speed automatic transmission. Its estimated mileage is at 22/32 mpg city/highway respectively on the four cylinder unit and 16/23 mpg city/highway respectively for the V6 unit.

2016 GMC Terrain: Price and Release Date

This luxurious mid-size SUV 2016 GMC Terrain is likely to be launched in the last quarter of 2015. Rumors have it that this refreshed model will cost slightly higher than the current price. Its base model is expected to cost approximately $ 35 700.
